I apologize for the extreme lateness of this post. I finished one game MONTHS ago, but I haven’t got a chance to work on this article. The game I finished: Super Mario 3D Land, and it was, for the most part, underwhelming.

I guess it’s because I played games like New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Super Mario Galaxy a while back, and with the 3D feature added (which became a headache after a while), it got monotonous. It’s even worse since half of the levels in 3D Land are rehashed from previous levels, just under a limited time. At least with Super Mario Galaxy games, when they have repeated levels, the conditions were mixed; some were under a time limit, some are without getting hit, and some have sped-up obstacles.

On a positive note, the levels they had offered were somewhat challenging, especially the “Champion” level that is unlocked when you collected all the star coins, grab the gold flag, and complete it as Mario and Luigi (who you had to rescue mid-game).

I feel bad since I haven’t completed New Super Mario Brothers, New Super Mario Brothers U, and (when I get it), Super Mario 3D World and New Super Mario Brothers 2. I hope I won’t get disappointed.

For now, I am more focused on Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros U/3DS…when I am not hooked on Animal Crossing: New Leaf.
